1. I take no days off for 90 consecutive days
2. We travel to a new town every day
3. I do free community shows in the mornings and live music main event fundraisers in the afternoons or evenings
4. If I don't respond to emails or messages I am either driving, sleeping, performing or in an area without reception
5. KIA Motors South Africa is my vehicle sponsor 
6. Marshall Music Woodmead and Line 6 sponsor the PA and lights
7. MS Publicity sponsor their PR services for setting up my main stream press and set up most of my radio interviews and tv appearances
8. I do all my own online marketing, social media and website
9. I have no booking agent or manager but have help from some incredible individuals like Rene Hartslief (Main Events) and Jacqui Orr (Community Gigs) and others
10. The BEST of KZN & Beyond Travel Guide sponsor advert space online and in print and market the tour on all their online platforms
11. The main objective of the tour is to create awareness around survivors of Violent and Sexual Crimes by spreading a message of hope and support to survivors through music and encouraging communities to show support and make change in their area
12. This tour is in support of ALL survivors. Men, Women and Children
13. The camera we are using is kindly sponsored for the duration of the tour by Ants Jean-louis
14. All monies raised from shows over and above expenses goes to Epic Foundation or ear marked local charities. I also do auctions and raffles at the main events and encourage direct donations to EPIC Foundation
15. I am attempting to do 180 shows in 90 Consecutive Days

17. I believe that Together We Can make a difference
18. My message is 100% neutral and is not focused on only one particlar religion, culture, sex, age or race. My message does not discriminate just as Violent and Sexual Crime does not discriminate.

#90Days2015 Success: Natalie Chapman completes 180 Gigs in 90 Consecutive Days in 113 Towns

 

(Johannesburg) 28th April 2015. 

 

On Monday, 27th April 2015 Natalie Chapman sang her final set for #90Days2015 in Johannesburg at Marks Parks, Emmarentia. The tears and celebrations flowed as Natalie and the crowd of supporters celebrated the end of her Epic Musical Adventure.

 

Performing to 10’s of 1000’s of Southern Africans across the demographic, religious and cultural spectrum - she performed at Theatres, Music Venues, Prisons, Schools, Hospitals, Night Shelters, Abuse Centres, Residence for the Elderly, Rehabilitaion Centres and the South African  Army, on National Television including Morning Live, Expresso and Hectic Nine, ETV Sunrise and more – and touched so many lives along the way.

 

Through music and story-telling she reached out to Survivors and Communities across the country, encouraging all Survivors of Abuse and Violent Crimes to speak out about their ordeals and release the shame attached to being a victim. She also challenged communities as a whole to get involved and together make a change in their towns and for survivors.

Natalie travelled to a new town every day and did free community shows in the mornings at Prisons, Schools, Shelters, Abuse Centres, Homes for the Disabled, residence for the Elderly and Rehabilitation Centres and main event shows in the evenings at Music Venues, Theatres and Restaurants. Natalie does all of her own online marketing, social media and website. She is her own Manager, Booking Agent and Record Label. She is what you call a true Independent artist. She travelled with one sound engineer in one vehicle. There was no other logistical or technical support on the road.

 

The tour was in support of ALL survivors. Men, Women and Children and her message is 100% neutral. It is not focused on any one particular religion, culture, sex, age or race. Natalie’s message does not discriminate, just as Violent and Sexual Crime does not discriminate.

#90Days2015 – The tour started on Wed, 28th January 2015 and finished on Monday, 27th April 2015

 

On what is thought to be the first mission of its kind, this feisty, talented and extremely passionate musician has succeeded in spreading her message of hope and awareness to all corners of South Africa including a visit to Lesotho.

 

The objective and impact

 

The main objective of #90Days2015 was simple for Chapman: to reach one person at each performance, to encourage survivors of Violent and Sexual Crimes to speak out about their experiences in order to find healing and also to motivate and mobilise everyday Africans to get involved in helping women, men and children who have suffered an ordeal.

 

Her efforts to raise funds brought much needed support to a variety of local and national organisations.

 

The impact has surpassed Natalie’s expectations and the sheer number of South Africans ready to share their stories has been overwhelming.

 

In Natalie’s own words

 

“Words cannot describe the incredible road I travelled on #90Days2015. I have seen South Africa and Lesotho through new eyes and am so happy to have been a part of something that has impacted so many lives.

 

As an individual I wasn’t sure if I could truly make a difference but I know now for sure that every effort counts, every interaction is valuable. The people in our region are in dire need of an ear to listen to their story and a shoulder to cry on.

 

While on the tour the Xenophobia attacks began and this just highlighted the fact that we have truly become a violent society. Where violence is an option instead of healing. Most of us are good people, but we are damaged from decades of abuse. People do not have the support structures to work through their ordeals and we have stopped supporting each other. We are polarised.

 

Poverty, unemployment and a lack of accessible education are enormous contributing factors to the epidemic of abuse.

 

When a 12 year old boy is in Juvenile Prison for murder we have to question why. How did a child get to the point where murder was an option? Abuse perpetuates and so does violence and our people need to know that the environment of fear we live in is not normal. Our children need to know that they are valuable assets to society and that they can dream beyond their situations.

 

Music has proven to be more powerful than I could ever have imagined. I am blessed to have this tool to bring my message across and although I am exhausted I am ready to take my message worldwide because this is a universal problem. What I am doing is very simple, but incredibly powerful because no one says the words. It’s time to be honest with ourselves. We need to remember our humanity.

Into the Future: 2015 and Beyond

 

While planning her next adventure Natalie Chapman will be focusing on a new album and will spend the rest of 2015 touring with her new material. From May - August 2015 she will be performing with the incredible Blues/Rock Artist Raoul (Raoul and Black Friday) on a Double Bill Tour across South Africa.

In August 2015 she is planning to travel to the USA with Raoul to perform and also to do research on the possibility of a #90Days summer tour in America in 2016. Following this they will travel to Europe and possibly New Zealand.

For 2016 Natalie has an exciting plan for #90Days South Africa. The details are being fleshed out and an announcement is just around the corner.

Natalie Chapman Awarded Lead SA Hero 

May 2014

Natalie was awarded the Lead SA Hero of the Month Award today after her interview with John Robbie of 702 Talk Radio. A huge honour for any South African. She was nomintaed by a number of people for her incredible work on #90Days 90Towns 90Gigs Tour which highlighted the need for South African Survivors to speak out about their Violent and Sexual Crime experiences and to motivate everyday citizens to get inolved in their communities and make a difference. Proving that 1 person can indeed make a difference!
